September 12-16

Here's what we'll be covering this week:

Spelling - all words

Language arts - verbs. Verbs are action words, things you can do. If you add -ing to a verb it means you are doing it NOW. If you add -ed to a verb it means you already did it. Of course there are always a few rule breakers - like run and ran!

Math - we will continue working on shapes. We will be sorting shapes by number of sides, number of angles, and size.

Fact practice - this week we are focusing on making 10. The math problems on our fact test will be written in this format: 9 +__ =10. Your child will have to fill in the missing number. We will continue to work on +1 and +0 problems as well. This practice helps your child memorize the facts and makes addition and subtraction faster and easier.

Science - how plants grow. We will be focusing on corn and how it grows, as well as learning about the many products that are made out of corn. It is more than you think! Did you know that corn is an ingredient in diapers?
